GQ comics

Well if you go to your Newsstand and see Leonardo Dicaprio staring out at you from the glossy sheen of a GQ magazine cover why not pick it up and resist the urge to find out about how to groom like Leo and find me in there. I've drawn some comics about top aussie talent. I haven't seen it yet so these may appear in print like this, probably with captions I imagine... Go find out and then tell the editor how much you liked them cartoons.

Mouse colouring

In preparation for my first teaching gig thiis week I coloured in this. They might not have tablets so I did it with a mouse to run through the exercise. I'm surprised how good it looks to me but maybe it's the colours more than the rendering. The exercise goes thru lassoing, filling, masks, layer modes and painting with opacity settings.

Before the world ensnares me again in the brutal pursuit for money I give you this. I hope you like it and it makes you wanna see the rest of this thing. I don't know what it is yet exactly but over the last month I pencilled and inked 11 pages of it that I will start to release on a dedicated site.
Here goes then.

Nick Quickie

Here's a half hour digital painting I did from a photo portrait of Nick Cave. Proportions are off and so are the values. Abit more polish could make it look great though

The Deep

This Months Oz Comics challenge is for Gestalt Comics' The Deep.
I did this piece. Referenced undewater photos of whales and also looked at the Artist of the comics, James Brouwer's approach. He is a gun. Clean and crisp. This one here could use a couple of hours of tightening up and a couple of compositional changes.

Sebastian Hawks Creature hunter entry

Here's a little thing done for Tristan Jones' new comic venture Sebastian Hawks- Creature Hunter. It just succeeded in getting crowd funded. Jesus, I really should've posted this before to help out. Sorry Tristan.
