Streetfighter challenge
Here's a bit of a process of my contribution to Oz comic's facebook comp this week.
So:
I did some pencils. Each figure was on a seperate page and I wiggled them about in PS till they sat right scale and angle wise
Now I spent alot of time here on each character. First I blocked in basic colours and got frustrated with the contrast and started to blend them to this stage nonetheless. Firstly I use the default opacity sensitive brush without that option ticked and then I started to blend with that little option ticked in the dialogue box...
On another layer I started to go over the pencils and add in darker shading and blended the colours below with some fresh ones on top. Much needed contrast comes through here.
Now on a layer set to overlay I punched up the vibrance adding a dark purple to get saturated shadows and an orangey colour to get the flesh tones more interesting.
Finally I add more background elements and on a layer set to hard light I add in the glow to the bodies that's eminating from the energy ball...I think I can call it that, or hadouken.

Hellboy
I inked this one traditionally for a facebook challenge and slapped on some colours in Photoshop. Very happy. I think I found an inbetween of my style and Mignola's I reckon.

Zombie Bride
Did this one for an Australian Comics Facebook group. I really like it.
Though I'm not a dead keen (haha) zombie fan I thought the idea was funny and the atmosphere works quite well.

So according to the good people on the forum her boobs and nudity were a problem.
These things often are so I bent to public opinion. A little

Bob Dylan
Here's an almost finished Dylan Caricature. Done for my girlfriend's Mum's Birthday. Good to be doing caricatures again.
Self portrait
It's a little bull necked but I got my bulbous head in there with no reference. I should go to bed now.

Blobheads
Here's a sweet little exercise suggested by the talented Kate Moon, view hers here http://kateemoon.blogspot.com/2009/01/attack-of-blobheads-pt-1.html I made some doodles then set about finding the faces in them. Challenging actually but with really great results. I see my Dad in the middle and our PrimeMinister in the bottom left as well as a St.Kilda Football player above her. Do it! Do it now!
Painting
Well this weekend was time for some real world painting. This came to me while I was trying to sleep. A total departure from what I normally try and do. I really like it and want to make a series in this style.
This one's called 'All that's required'
